# Knots (Airspeed)
Airspeed is measured in knots:
1 knot = 1 nm per hour
So: 500 knots = 500 nautical miles per hour
nm → km: multiply by ~1.85
nm → miles: multiply by ~1.15

# nm = nautical mile
A nautical mile is a distance unit used in aviation navigation, and, it's not the regular mile you use on roads.
1 nautical mile (nm) = 1.852 km≈ 1.15 miles
eg. “fly up to 4,300 nm”. It means the aircraft can fly about: ~7,964 km, or ~4,950 miles
